CWA Retirees Meeting August 12, 2019

The meeting was called to order by President Bob Huss.  He said a prayer and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.  He asked everyone to remain standing as he read the names of the deceased: Martin “Marty” Bahr (President Emeritus of the CWA) and Audrey Sandler.  Several people shared memories of Mr. Bahr.

Missouri State Senator Jill Schupp spoke at length about issues currently on the table in the legislature as well as her own priorities and views.  She then took questions from the members. 

A motion was made, seconded and passed to waive the reading of the July minutes until the September meeting.  Ron Munford gave an abbreviated Treaurer's report, highlighting the current balance.  A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve the report.
Vice-President Earline Jones spoke briefly about health care.
The Labor Day parade is on September 2nd.
The monthly birthday cake was won by Virginia Anderson-Dunbar.  Drawings were held and monies were given out as prizes.

No joke was told this month.  A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn the meeting.
