CWA/AT&T Midwest Bargaining Report #12

CWA/AT&T Midwest Bargaining Report #12

March 19, 2018

Fighting Today…Focused on the Future!

This morning the Appendix F subcommittee met to reiterate our demands for improvements for our members. We reminded the company that they had not yet responded to our proposal to move all employees covered by this appendix into the core agreement. The conversation continued with the CWA committee stressing the need for additional work to be brought into the bargaining unit, for all titles covered by all parts of the Midwest Agreement!

This afternoon the full CWA committee met with the company representatives to continue what we thought was a somewhat productive conversation. That thought ended quickly when the company passed proposals that deleted Appendix A18 (Overtime), which would allow AT&T to force unlimited amounts of overtime on our members in all 5 states covered under this contract. The company also passed proposals on Appendix A25 (Regarding Required Overtime) that would further reduce our ability to manage our work/life balance.

Tentative agreements were reached on Appendix A15 (Medical Facilities/Physician Visits) and Appendix A24 (Surplus Employee Training/Retraining). The Union rejected company proposals on Article 27 (Operator Services) and an agreement that deals with Technical Associate hours within operator services, and we proposed retaining current language.

Things are beginning to heat up at the table…. please continue to show your support in the field through your mobilization activities! The Company does notice. During a conference call with Local Presidents this evening, Vice President Hinton announced that each Local should prepare to conduct a strike vote of our members. A strong “yes” vote may be what it takes to make the company realize that our committee carries more than mere words….they have strength and power with our members united behind them, ready to do whatever it takes!

The committee would also like to thank Local 4217 for the care package that arrived over the weekend!
