Local Update AT&T Bargaining

Members of Local 4302,

As many of you are aware, there was a meeting yesterday, Wednesday June 20th, between representatives of District 4, our elected Bargaining Committee, and Local Officers from across the District.  This Meeting was set to discuss the status of our pending Unfair Labor Practice charges, where we’re at in bargaining, and how to hone our mobilization skills.

To the first point, our pending ULP, it was again pointed out by the bargaining committee that your action and showing of solidarity were directly responsible for bringing the company back to the table.  On the charges themselves, the company has filed a motion to consolidate our ULP charges with those of the other Locals that have filed similar ones.  While we are waiting for a determination of the validity of this motion, it is important to note that there are other pending charges against the company that will not be consolidated including the misconduct charge for our brother hit on the picket line in Local 4818.

Bargaining is at a pivotal moment.  Our bargaining team has made a huge amount of progress but there is much more work to do. The divide between what we have asked of them through our bargaining surveys and where we are today is still very wide with key issues of Job Security, Appendix F, Benefits, and retaining our work still very open and the company’s team being very noncommittal. Our Bargaining Team is doing their part every day and standing strong and it is up to us to do the same.

Make no mistake, we are in a fight for our futures.  It is up to us to be vigilant and to always be mobilizing.  Our mobilization activities sometimes seem very local in scope, but it is important to keep in mind the one thing that they are always reinforcing everywhere: SOLIDARITY!  We have proven time again that we are united.  We have proven it to AT&T, we have proven it to our bargaining team, and we have proven it to each other.  Now is not the time to falter, now is not the time to fear, now is the time to stand together more than ever before!
